Nissen Hut Bull Session

K.C. Geyer:
Dad Rarey would have bull sessions in the evenings. He loved to talk. He loved to listen to other people too. But the one thing they couldn't talk about was war. That was a rule. No talk about war.

Rarey's letter: December 22, 1943.
Our little stove - it is quite a personality, about three feet high and ten inches across, cylindrical in shape. There is a small opening in the top to put in coal and an equally small opening in the bottom to take out ashes. On the surface this coal to ashes cycle sounds quite simple - but not so - the stove is not equipped with a grate, and successful operation requires patience and cunning with a dash of luck.
