Panel 109

September 12, Saturday.

Christ! Tonight we spied on Ferguson's party that Jane took Jim Warner to. I just got back in. I don't know if I'm safe yet.

I was watching TV in the living room with the whole damn family and they wouldn't go to bed. I knew I could never get past them to sneak out. So finally I put my shoes out on the back porch. Then I went up to my room and dropped a shirt and sweater out my window down into the back yard. I put my pajamas on over my jeans and went down and said goodnight to everyone, but instead of going up to bed I headed out the back door. I changed my pajamas for my clothes and shagged for Danny's.

Comstock was there and we headed for Ferguson's. The party was in the back yard and we got pretty close by going through the alley and hiding in a field. I saw Jane and Jim Warner. She looked neat as hell in that brown skirt of hers. I wanted her so bad. Warner looks like a bull. We watched for a while. We didn't want to get caught because all the boys there were juniors and seniors and could kick our asses. We were getting some firecrackers ready on incense time fuses when a cop car showed up, so we scattered. After a while we went back and set up the firecrackers. I lit an incense fuse with a cherry bomb on it, but Danny couldn't get his going. I was getting damn nervous because mine was burning down. Finally we hauled ass and split up, heading for home. I was just about to go in when I heard a muffled boom. Ha!

I hid my clothes in the basement and put on my pajamas, but when I started to go in I saw that Mom and Grandma were still up watching TV. Shit! I could never get past them. I went back out and climbed the trellis to the back porch roof. I had left the nursery window open a crack just in case and I opened it as quietly as I could and got in okay.
